About Wise

Money without Borders.

Building the best way to move and manage the world's money

Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.

With Wise Account and Wise Business, people and businesses can hold 40 currencies, move money between countries and spend money abroad. Large companies and banks use Wise technology too; an entirely new network for the world’s money.

Co-founded by Kristo Käärmann and Taavet Hinrikus, Wise launched in 2011 under its original name TransferWise. It is one of the world’s fastest growing, profitable tech companies and is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker, WISE.

In fiscal year 2024, Wise supported around 12.8 million people and businesses, processing approximately £118.5 billion in cross-border transactions, and saving customers over £1.8 billion.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Wise

Our mission has always been an inclusive one: for everyone, everywhere, building money without borders. Making money move transparently, cheaply, with speed and with accessibility, is an inclusive pursuit. Diverse teams enable us to build an inclusive product for the world.

Just like our customers, our Wisers are from every part of the world. Our community is made from diverse backgrounds, life experiences, knowledge and problem solving skills.

We have 125 different nationalities represented at Wise, with almost half of our people working in a country that’s different from their nationality!

We already do some great things to make Wise open, nurturing and accessible to all. When asked if people from all backgrounds are accepted for who they are in our most recent employee engagement survey, Wise scored in the top 5% of the tech company benchmark.

So, what are we focused on?

We have evolved our DEI efforts to include 5 overarching objectives for the next financial year and beyond. To find out more about the key priorities we are focusing on, visit our DEI page: https://wise.jobs/diversity-equity-and-inclusion

Wise communities and safe spaces

We have 12 global Wise Communities (Employee Resource Groups) which actively help us drive our diversity, equity and inclusion progress. Throughout the year, we celebrate global and regional cultural and religious events from our DEI Events calendar.

Our Communities provide opportunities to listen, learn, drive action, promote allyship, and build psychological safety for everyone. Each community is formed around shared identities and experiences, have their own objectives, and take initiatives to encourage engagement and bonding;

Our QueerWise Community

At Wise, our Queerwise Community provides a safe space for LGBTQIA+ and questioning Wisers to share, support and make meaningful connections. We have a global community and four regional chapters. We regularly hold LGBTQIA+ spaces for discussion, support and friendship. We also host Global Queerwise Socials biannually in multiple office locations, connecting our Queerwise community members across regions.

For those who are not familiar with the challenges our community faces, we provide education on LGBTQIA+ Allyship and we're distributing learning content across all our offices. We launched a new training for our Customer Support & Operational teams for Vulnerable Customers and trans/non-binary customer inclusion last year.

In June 2023, we marched together with Queerwisers and allies at the Baltic Pride parade in Tallinn. We will continue to amplify the voices of our Queerwisers through Pride Open Letters, Pride interviews, sharing Top Tips for Coming Out and Top Tips for Allies Who Want to Help LGBTQ+ People Come Out, and much more!

In the same year, we signed the Human Rights Campaign National Business Statement on Anti-LGBTQ+ State Legislation being introduced across the United States, targeting transgender youth. Together with more than 500 other U.S. companies, we proudly stood in joining the HRC's Business Coalition for the Equality Act, declaring our support for federal legislation that would provide the same basic protections to LGBTQIA+ people as are provided to other protected groups under federal law.

As part of our extended healthcare services in the US, we are delighted to partner with FOLX Health, a nationwide virtual healthcare provider dedicated to serving the unique needs of the LGBTQIA+ community.

We are committed to celebrating and empowering our wonderful QueerWise Community, creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
